January 9, 1991
The day after the start of the U.S. bombing of Iraq, ten peace activists were arrested at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, for handing out written warnings to military reservists about participation in war crimes. Long-time peace activist Sam Day was sentenced to four months for his participation.
January 10, 1917
The National Women’s Party began regular picketing of the White House, advocating the right to vote for women.
January 11, 2002
The first of the detainees/enemy combatants arrived at Guantánamo Bay, the U.S. military base on the southeastern coast of Cuba.
January 12, 1971
"All in the Family" premiered on CBS TV. The sitcom focused on the major social and political issues of the day such as racism, war, homosexuality and the role of women.
January 13, 1958
Linus Pauling presented the “Scientists’ Test Ban Petition,” signed by over 11,000 scientists (including 36 Nobel laureates) from 49 countries, to the United Nations. It called for an end to nuclear weapons testing for, among other reasons, its health and ecological effects. In reaction to his efforts, Pauling was forced to resign as Chairman of the Division of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Caltech after having served in that role for 22 years.

Kucinich Action / Integrity Now
Ojai Valley Kucinich supporters continue to meet to carry on peace, justice, and political work in the same spirit and energy of Dennis' presidential campaign, now called Integrity Now.
Meetings are held on the first Sunday of each month at the former site of Ojai Creates!: 207 N. Ventura St, Ojai.
The next meeting will be on Sunday at 10am, and all are welcome.
